At first, I read this like "Surprise Barber", as in, you don't know who is going to show up with a scissors. This might actually be quality television show.

I live in Oakland, which is full of fun little places like this. But being a country girl, I never really picked up on the fact that, well, certain hair salons are in business to cut certain hair types. So when I walked in a place just like Surprise Barber last week, hoping, just maybe, that they could squeeze me in for a quick trim, I didn't get the warmest reception. By didn't get the warmest reception, I mean the ENTIRE shop came to the proverbial screeching halt. Every haircutter, haircuttee, towel girl, and shampoo girl stopped what they were doing and stared. If I wasn't totally ingrained with a ridiculous WASP sensibility, I would have turned right back around and never looked back. But for fear of that awkward moment of trying to tactfully say, "hey, I'm sorry, I didn't realize I'd be the ONLY white person in here, I'll just leave," I just kept on going past the point of no return and got a haircut. I'm not gonna tell you how it turned out, but I will say I'm totally caught up on Vibe.

There used to be a billboard here in Pinellas County advertising a vasectomy service. At the bottom, it had the slogan, "You'd be surprised." I don't think I want any surprises with vasectomy surgery, thank you very much.

Maybe they drag you in as you walk by, and give you a surprise haircut.

you know the surprise isn't getting a shitty haircut, because not getting a shitty haircut would be more surprising.
